Results and Fabrication Stage

The results were announced by nearly 1AM. It was Vignesh Anna who called me and informed that our team got cleared for the Virtuals. I was half asleep and told “Ohh fine Congrats” and hung the call ;-)

It was only in the morning that I realized he did call and called him back. We went and met the HOD in the morning along with Mathew Sir and he was really proud of our achievement. All of the teammates were honored for our hard work during the inauguration of the Mechanical association in our college.
THE TEAM!! HINDUSTHANI LAHURIANS

The next main hurdle was to find enough funds to start with the fabrication. The college was our main sponsor and helped us generously. The rest of the amount was shared among the teammates itself. Meetings were conducted on a regular basis and the fabrication was carried out in a well planned manner. Whiteboards were arranged to keep updated about the work to be completed and the present day’s work.

The fabrication was carried out after college hours from 5PM and it sometimes went up to 3AM in the morning. Sandhanapandi (4th Mechanical) and Sabari, Satheesh do deserve a special mention. Even faculty members were so much surprised seeing their hardwork and workmanship. Mathew Sir frequently guided us with the fabrication. Vignesh Anna turned up every Saturday and Sunday to help us with the fabrication.

Most of the items of fabrication were procured from a local old market in Ukkadam, Coimbatore. Nandhakumar was incharge of maintaining the bills and procuring items. I was incharge of the Electrical department. Finding a suitable motor of the required motor of sufficient power and voltage seemed a big task and at last we were fortunate of finding a company which sold E-vehicles and bought the motor from them.

The vehicle was fabricated in a month. The turn radius weren’t as satisfactory and the steering did get lock up at times. A few modifications were made to solve these problems.
We painted our vehicle with an army colour as our vehicle was designed to be rugged and had weight of whooping 300kg plus and it really looked like a real army level vehicle.

We completed our fabrication and presented our vehicle before our Principal Dr. T Khannadasan and Vice Principal Dr. J Suganthi who appreciated our initiative and our effort to build the vehicle. The Principal even took a ride in our vehicle around the campus and explained how comfortable his ride was.
